How To Make Your Own Bath Bombs

What’s not to love about a relaxing, warm bath with colourful bubbles? Bath bombs are wonderful and offer so many benefits, fun and fizz are just a few examples. Unfortunately, most bath bombs that can be found in stores today contain tons of dangerous dyes and chemicals that can negatively impact your health. Do you really want to be soaking in a pool of chemicals? Probably not! The more natural ones that are found in the stores can be costly.

The good news is that a DIY bath bomb recipe is very simple to make at home. Why splurge on natural and organic ones when you can make your own? You can even adapt them to your own preferences by using the essential oils of your choice.

One of the most exciting things about using a bath bomb is watching what it does once it hits the water!

About The Ingredients

Baking Soda:

The benefits of baking soda are detoxifying and alkalizing the body. It also offers softness to your skin.

Sea Salt:

Sea salt contains magnesium, and this can be absorbed through the skin. Magnesium is known to act as a relaxant.


Cornstarch softens the skin and gives it a silky feeling. Also, cornstarch helps to harden the bath bomb.

Citric Acid:

One of the many benefits of citric acid is that it helps loosen damaged layers of skin.

Let us get started and make some bath bombs!


  • Baking Soda- 8 ounces,
  • Citric Acid- 4 ounces,
  • Corn Starch- 4 ounces,
  • Salts- 4ounces (Dead Sea salts are the best option for this, but are difficult to find. Mineral salt works just fine, is easier to find and less expensive),
  • Water- .75 tablespoon,
  • Essential oils- 5-10 drops,
  • Food coloring- 3-4 drops,
  • Olive oil- 3 tablespoon


  • I prefer to mix all of my ingredients in a glass bowl. Glass is non-reactive. First, blend all of your wet ingredients together. Second, in a separate bowl, blend all of your dry ingredients. Third, slowly add small amounts of the liquid to the dry ingredients. If you notice foam, it is because you are adding the liquid too fast.
  • Once your mixture is prepared, it is ready to put into molds of your choice. You can get creative with this! You can use plastic Easter eggs or any other type of mold.
  • Firmly pack the ingredients into your mold. I like to use a spoon to do this.
  • Once you have completed these steps, you will want your bath bombs to sit in their molds for at least 24 hours. Once they get hard they are ready to be removed from their molds. Enjoy!
